JETS Background
JETS Academy was formed by Josh Ackland in 2005. Josh is a third year University Student studying double degrees in Law and Business at UWS.
He has been playing soccer since he was 4 years old and initially played his junior soccer years at St Clair and St Marys Soccer Clubs. Josh then moved into Representative Youth League and Junior League Soccer, and gained playing experience with Blacktown City, Nepean, Macarthur and Mount Druitt Town Rangers. Due to study and coaching commitments, Josh is no longer playing outdoor soccer, but has just completed a season as a player in the 1st grade Mens Team with the Western Crusaders in the Indoor Soccer State League Tournament.
He spent 3 years in Elite squads at NSW Coerver Coaching and also gained experience in coaching for them in school holiday camps and also as an assistant coach for one of their elite squads. During this period, Josh had the opportunity to learn from some highly skilled and well renowned coaches.
As a natural progression, Josh was approached by some parents who were interested in some personalised development for their children and Josh worked with several young players in a "one on one" environment with excellent results.
Having achieved excellent results in the private coaching arena, Josh was encouraged by parents of some junior elite players to create a formal program and form an elite training squad. This is now in the process of growth, which is driven by demand and is aimed at increasing the level of skills for young players via training camps, whilst remaining focused on quality at all times.
The development of players takes a combination of skills. Some coaches are excellent at teaching the individual skills, some coaches are excellent at teaching team skills and some coaches are successful by just being excellent motivators. The other skill is to keep the players focused, under control and most importantly to keep them enjoying their sport development.
Josh is a strong leader who has consolidated most of the aspects of coaching mentioned above and he has been able to develop strong and professional rapport with both players and parents. The players come first to him and he delivers results.
Josh has developed first class coaching programs and is confident that these will help young players develop their skills. He has identified and trained several other coaches who are currently available to assist him with squad and training camp work. The coaches all have a high level of playing experience and were initially chosen due to their aptitude for combining technical and teaching skills in a fun and professional way.
With the recent qualification of Australia's Socceroos in the "WORLD CUP", we hope to raise the standard of junior players coming through the ranks. Our training camps are focused on growing soccer skills and development of future top class players. We are not a child minding centre and are only interested in players that "really" want to learn the game.
